When the snow disappears, Gudauri does not become empty — it becomes quieter. The ski landscape turns into open grassland, mountain roads are easier to explore, and the resort works as a base for hiking, paragliding and trips deeper into the Kazbegi region.
This is the season for guests who want mountain air without ski crowds.
Summer lifts
Mountain Trails Agency operates a summer season in Gudauri when conditions and annual schedules allow. In 2026, the summer season opened on 18 July, with the Gudauri and Kobi lift areas operating daily from 11:00 to 17:00. Future summer dates should always be checked before travel.
Hiking and walking
You do not need an expedition to enjoy Gudauri in summer. Short walks around the resort and viewpoints are enough for a relaxed stay, while more ambitious hikers can use Gudauri as a starting point for wider Kazbegi-area plans.
For routes such as Juta or Truso Valley, access and road conditions are seasonal, so confirm them before setting out.
Mountain biking
Official resort information highlights marked bike paths that can be accessed using designated lifts during the warmer months. Bring or rent appropriate protective gear and choose terrain that matches your experience.
Paragliding
Gudauri remains a major paragliding destination beyond winter. Several take-off points are used around the resort, including Panorama, Bidara and Kudebi, depending on season and conditions.
Always fly with a certified tandem pilot and accept that mountain weather can change the plan at short notice.
Road trips towards Kazbegi
Stepantsminda is roughly 32 kilometres from Gudauri by road. Gergeti Trinity Church, Dariali Gorge and other Kazbegi-area sights can turn a quiet mountain stay into a varied two- or three-day itinerary.
If you prefer not to organise the logistics yourself, use our Experiences section for private routes.
